CrossOver

Route your track into up to four frequency bands with steep, adjustable crossovers for precision multiband processing and bass-preserving effects.

Description

If you need tight control over different parts of the spectrum, CrossOver makes it easy to carve your audio into discrete bands so you can process lows, mids and highs independently. I find it invaluable for setting up custom multiband chains in a modular host — from gentle tone-shaping to aggressive, band-limited distortion — while keeping the sub region untouched when required.

Why you’ll reach for it:

  • Split audio into as many as four frequency outputs so each band can feed separate effects or processors.
  • Uses matched Linkwitz-Riley low- and high-pass filters with selectable slopes from 12 to 96 dB/oct for clean, phase-coherent transitions.
  • Handy for creating ‘bass-safe’ effects where the low end stays dry but the upper spectrum is treated, or for advanced multiband routing and sound design in a VST2-compatible modular setup on Windows.
