Transform tracks with simultaneous phase and amplitude modulation for weird, harmonically rich shifts—great for pads, guitars, and experimental textures.
Description
AudioQAM is a compact modulation effect that pushes audio into new harmonic territory by combining phase shifting and amplitude changes at the same time. I use it when I want a familiar sound to take on metallic, shifting, or glitchy qualities—it can gently nudge a pad or completely mangle a synth line depending on how you run it.
The plug-in offers a selection of carrier wave shapes—sine, triangle, square, and saw—so you can pick anything from smooth spectral movement to buzzy, rich sidebands. With the sine carrier it behaves like a traditional frequency shifter, while the other waveforms open up more aggressive and harmonically complex results. AudioQAM ships as a VST2 for Windows and is made by suzumushi.
Who should try it? Sound designers, experimental producers, guitarists and electronic musicians looking for quick ways to add motion, unusual sidebands, or dramatic spectral variation will get the most mileage. Tweak the carrier type and intensity to find anything from subtle stereo motion to full-on alien textures.
